The proximity of fiber optic lines plays a major factor in the attraction to a site. If the fiber is already in place or close to the proposed site the more attractive the site is. In rural areas, fiber optic lines are typically placed in the right-of-way adjacent to highways with Regen stations placed approximately every 50 miles to regenerate and strengthen the signal to the next destination.
